There are quite a few Gundam novels in existence that have no animation with them... Ecole du Ciel, Hathaway's Flash, Gaia Gear, Gundam SEED Astray, etc. Gaia Gear was completely new in and of itself, and that faired rather well I think.

Why not?  They did Crossbone Gundam without an anime.  Unless you count F91?
