try and market it - and it flopped. Poor timing was the worst thing they
could have done and they tried long after it really couldn't compete
with the sheer volume of newer shows with "better" animation.
Maybe I'm looking at it too simply, but that seems to me to have been
the biggest mistake they could have ever made and the big reason why
it's just a niche market here instead of the phenomenon it could have
been in the US and the EU at least.

I actually agree with you on this - it's part of that culture thing that
I am also pointing out. Bandai literally missed the bus by being insular
and somewhat anti-western in some of its marketing philosophies.
