Has there ever been any attempt to explain/justify how a beam of mega

Any kind of energy beam carries momentum. Even a flash light powered
by a couple of C batteries can push a physical object around:

So the principle of using mega particle beams for lift generation
isn't anywhere near the most outrageous/ridiculous examples of anime
physics.
But why any sane mecha designer would choose such cumbersome and
low-performance propulsion method in the battle field, that's beyond
me. The Flying Brick technology had been mastered at least 60 years
ago (Zeta Gundam) and arguably 70+ years ago (Gouf Flight Type). Good
old rockets power a 20m MS around like a hummingbird, so why use a
futurized version of Vietnam War era technology? Rolls eyes...
How can a beam rotor be damaged by crashing into buildings if it is a beam
of mega particles? Shouldn't it just regenerate?
Can't remember the scene you are referring to, but can't it be that
the beam-generating device was damaged? Shrugs... you will encounter
many more technical mysteries as you get late into the series.
That being said I am really enjoying the series. I like really like the
characters so far. I like the MS designs too.
It's a lot of fun and with a subtle hint of serious message. I have
been kind of following contemporary anime from Netflix and Cartoon
Network, and I can't name even a handful of them that compare well to
Victory Gundam. Let's try... out of last 5 years? Perhaps not a
single one.
