As a proud member of the International Appreciation Society Of The Acguy it was only a matter of time before I picked up the HCM-PRO Acguy. I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts about it for everyone out there.
HEAD They copied over much of the technology of the MG kit with a few differences. With the MG kit the head track stays with the clear parts when you remove it to move the monoeye. This means you have to move the monoeye from the back. With the HCM-PRO the monoeye stays with the rest of the body when you pull of the top parts. As a result you move the monoeye from the front. The downside of this is that it is very easy to scratch the paint of the monoeye. Another change is the horizontal range of motion for the monoeye. With the MG kit you have a little over 180 degree motion which allows you to move it to a little past the left and right sides. With the HCM-PRO there is a little less then 90 degrees centered on the front of the face. You can move the eye 45 degrees or so to the left, or right, of center but not to the sides. The vertical axis of the monoeye track is almost exactly the same as the MG. ARMS The HCM-PRO has a pair of two segment arm extension pieces that can be used individually on both arms an can also be combined to make one arm even longer. There are three hands: torpedo hand, retracted claw hand, and extended arm claw. There isn't a piece to recreate the 08th MS amputee variant. LEGS The legs are pretty close to the MG kit engineering. The only major difference is that the upper thighs, and knees in particular, are significantly thinner. In my opinion it throws off the proportions a little and makes the Acguy look like it is wearing moon boots. It isn't as glaringly obvious when seen in the promo art because they tend to show the legs from the side more. On a side note the fans in the feet are smaller in proportion to the rest of the foot than the MG kit. The feet also move side to side to accommodate the sitting pose like the MG kits. TORSO The torso is what you would expect for the Acguy. Nothing more and nothing less. "TRANSFORMATION" (The big SIT pose) The sitting pose is accommodated just like the MG kit. The hip pods, and shoulder pods, slide out. The only scary thing is that the legs feel stiff and brittle when moving the legs up for the sitting position. They should be solid, but I would still suggest caution. The one downfall I have experienced with the HCM-PRO is that it can't sit flat on its feet; it always rocks backwards. I am not sure if it is a balance issue, or a minor difference in the flexibility of the legs in comparison to the MG kit because I never have this problem with my MG. PROPORTIONS I don't have the HCM-PRO Z-Gok yet so I can't compare the sizes between the two to see if it dwarfs the Z'Gok like its MG counterpart. I can say that it is taller then the HCM-PRO Dom. It is marginally smaller then the MSIA Acguy but not by much. It sticks closer to the boxier OYW version than the more rounder 08th MS Team version. It's good overall if the leg proportions don't bother you. DETAILS The details are nice and crisp as we have come to expect from the HCM-PRO line. CONCLUSION A must have for all IASOTA members just to promote the Acguys and keep them coming. Bias aside I'd give it 3 out of 5 stars though due to the legs and the problems I have encountered with the sitting pose gimmick.
