>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> No discussion? Is Gundam and/or Gunpla so dead? Or just this release isn't exciting? Let me give it a go... >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I was going to talk about it more after I got mine. But for once I am going to hold off on the Green Zaku and wait for Char's Zaku. All of my MG Zakus, and my only PG Zaku, are straight up Grunt Green. My only Char Zakus are FG and HGUC. I thought I needed to give Char his due respect this time around. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My first (and second and third) impression was a little on the ho-hum side. But then looking at the HobbySearch pix, I was saying to myself, "well at least they didn't turn it into a ver. something or another". It's just a straight-from-lineart realization with contemporary (or even next gen) engineering designed specifically (or so we are led to believe from the pix) to recreate every memorable and mundane moments from the 0079 TV. Perhaps that's the point... ver 2.0 fixes/updates the engineering from the early days of MG, makes the model more playable. That's it, no screwing around with extras. This could actually make v2 even better than PG in some ways, the PG, for all its glorious details & engineering, isn't very playable at all. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It also fixes the many gripes about the old kits not directly related to poseability such as the Zeta's floppiness or how frustrating the tubes were on the original Zaku kits. The new kit has them all ready to go straight from the sprue to the tube. IN addition the inner tube appears stronger and should stay securely in the head without glue. That was my only real complaint about the version 1 Zaku. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The downside, perhaps, is that MG is getting so good there's no more market headroom for new PG. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I think the big problem they are running in to with the PG is that there aren't many surefire hits that won't require a lot more plastic to produce. As it is the PG are on the high end of most hobbyists' budgets. If they had to raise the prices to go after another sure fire design there would be a significant jump in price. Would you want to pay $300-400 for a MG Alex? Add on to that the fact that any future PG releases are relegated to Gundams only and the range of selections narrows. I think that is the bottleneck for the PG market. -------------------------------------------------- The Gundam Mailing List MK-II [email protected] Archives: http://www.gundam.com/gml Help: Email [EMAIL PROTECTED] with this in the BODY: help list
