Not so much design, more along the lines of Kitbash.
As for the Haro, wasn't there a project on the board a while back
by Dr. Core and Ritchie? to build one? Whatever happened
to that guys?

We (a few US-based geeks) had plans for a Haro robot (eventually
autonomous, but we planned for RC initially). We went as far as
pencil and CAD drawings and worked out some basic math/engineering for
locomotion. It would roll forward and backward and turn under control
without anything visibly moving. We didn't really work out in detail
how it would sense the outside world, bi-aural listening would sound
pretty feasible, maybe a sonar too. For output/action it obviously
need to say "Hello, Amuro!" but beyond that we leave it open for the
moment.

In implementation, I brought some materials for a prototype: got a
35cm diameter spherical shell (in 2 halves) a couple RC car motors and
battery/charger from garage sales. Had been scavenging for internal
frame material when that inconvenient thing called a baby arrived.
That was about 3 years ago.

The earliest I can restart it is probably another year or two away,
when the baby goes to school may (or may not) relieve the time
pressure. Anyway when I finish HGUC 0079 models (ending with Zock) I
might decide to stop plamod and switch to robotics. But then
realistically I might end up buying a kit rather then build my own
custom design.
