wasn't sufficient so they had to build the Guncannon and later the Gundam.
So from that perspective it was considered unwieldy and inefficient in
Universe.
From what I can see, its intended purpose was as a testbed for
technology that would eventually be used in full mobile suits. To that
end, it was a success, so I'm glad that in the movies they replaced
White Base's Guntank with another Guncannon.
