Don't you want to make the claim "I have all the variants of all
Gelgoog kits, including the ver 2"?
Anyway, I was wrong about Ming's link, there's a pictorial review in
there, I just missed it. You can see very detailed ver1 versus ver2
in there:

The most salient improvement is the shoulder armor. The old one looks
ok, but the new one looks fantastic. The whole proportions just look
a little better in general. But without a side-by-side comparison,
it's not easy to say what's unsatisfactory about the old one.
It never fail to amaze me how many ways Bandai can tweak the color
schemes of every single MS.
Coincidentally I just receive the first shipments of my gunpla
shopping spree ^_^ Building the HGUC Char's Gelgoog right now. It's
a great kit, and rather different from even the MG ver2 (as you can
tell from the review above). In particular HGUC offers the "clean"
shoulder spike as per original line art, eschewing the vent/verniers
on all the MG and the HGUC Gelgoog Marines. Arg but the upper waist
is a bit of a disaster (also visible in the MS ver2 vs HGUC pix
above), still considering solutions...
Oh one more thing... Bandai's Action Base (both 1 and 2) is the best
thing since sliced bread.
