I'd think not too long from now, the number of non-Tomino UC shows
will outnumber Tomino's own works. If you count video games that mark
is surely past already.

Anyway I think the UC label itself is sliding into background. From
Turn-A's (Tomino's precious labor of love) very deliberate avoidance
of the label to Seed and G00, I get the feeling from Sunrise/Bandai
(both the creative and business angles) that the UC vs AU structure is
being pushed back. Sure UC will still exist in the from of
merchandise (esp. HGUC) and side stories will be made (I am not sure
if Gundam Unicorn counts as a side story or a new story). But no one
will make a big deal about new shows like Seed and G00 being UC or
not.

Tracing backward, you can probably reclassify X in the same grouping
as Turn-A, Seed and G00; leaving only two timelines in the AU class:
Wing and G. This group can be called NeoUC or reUC. They are non-UC
by definition, but they do borrow a lot of elements from UC shows and
are somewhat distinguishable from AU.

But that's dangerous too, it's easy to classify G out of this NeoUC
group, but how about Wing? I am not sure it's possible to define an
explicit boundary line between Wing and the rest of them. It might
even be premature to classify G00, with 1/4 of the show already on
air, it's still kind of unclear where it belongs. (crazy idea: is
there a Master Asia character in G00?)

And then is it fair to exclude SD Gundam from the consideration? Why
not put SD Gundam Force and BB Senshi Sangokuden into the AU bucket as
well?

Finally, if I can venture a prediction about the /FUTURE/, I think new
UC stories (may be including Unicorn) will further blur the boundary
between UC and Neo-UC grouping.

Let's just call the whole thing off ;)
