Corner upsetting the plan - maybe, maybe not. It wouldn't completely surprise
me if when Ribbon gets to the final layer of Veda, a personalized message to
the Corner family from Aeolia Schoenberg pops up and mocks Alejandro for making
sure that the plan continued on as expected. :P

But I doubt it'll happen that way. It does appear that Corner's after
something hidden in Veda, though.

I can't comment on the Observers' reactions since we know pretty much nothing
about them.

In the dialogue I had, Alejandro told Ribbon that the Solar Furnaces really did
need to be destroyed, because with them CB would eventually rise again.
Shutting the Gundams down appears to have been Corner's way of ensuring that
the Gundams didn't pull off a miracle or make a run for it at the last second,
saving their precious furnaces for CB.

I didn't see Corner or Ribbon mention the HRL.

I think a lot of the problem with Tieria was just him choosing the wrong time
to have a crisis of confidence. We saw something similar earlier on when he
unveiled Gundam Nadleeh prematurely to the HRL, and then started crying in his
cockpit because he'd "failed Veda by screwing up the plan". When Lock-on gave
him the quick pep talk just before the alert, Tieria was about to say something
important about his background. I have a sneaking suspicion that knowing
Tieria's background would answer a lot of questions.

Remember that Setsuna went into his mystical "Gundam has rejected me!" hysteria
when Exia went dead. Both Setsuna and Tieria have emotional issues that are
linked to elements of CB (Exia for Setsuna, and Veda for Tieria).

Regarding the Trinities - two of them appear to be rather impulsive and
emotional, but it also seems clear that one of them (the tall dark-skinned one
- Johann?) is a pretty good strategist and realized quite quickly that they'd
been setup. I'm guessing that the team as a whole wasn't recruited for its
long-range tactical thinking (that sort of thing might interfere with the
eventual betrayal of the team), but the team leader ended up with those traits
anyway as a result of the basic skills that he'd need to lead the team.

The episode preview also seemed to suggest to me that he's going to die in the
next episode (due to a scene showing only the other two Trinities out in the
desert, a scene showing him facing down an HRL attack, and Nene looking upset
about something outside her cockpit), and that the Trinities will be attempting
to hook up with Wang.

I have my doubts about Corner being directly related to Ali. If the two were
extended family of some sort, then presumeably Ali wouldn't have had to ask
Ragna in the previous episode to get him hooked up with one of the militaries
so that he could get a GN-X (and ensure that he still had a job in the future).

A few items...

The mysterious GN Particles render sensors inoperative. That's how the GN-X
mobile suit team got so close to Ptolemais without being detected. But
Ptolemais did detect them eventually (and it detected the individual mobile
suits, not merely that there were GN Particles interfering with the sensors).
How did it do this?

We were told that 19 mobile suits attacked the Ptolemais. Presumeably each
superpower got 10 each, and the mission was a joint operation between the AEU
and Union. Where was the 20th?

Setsuna had an unusual dream in which he's back in the razed city with his
assault rifle, and Marina Ismail arrives to show him a growing flower and tell
him that he can stop fighting (she also calls him by his real name). Given
that it was more than Marina merely showing up and saying, "Setsuna, you're my
hero," I'm guessing that there's a deeper import to this. If I had to, I'd
hazard a guess that it's to show that Setsuna is beginning to realize that
there are things of value in this life. Up until now, the only thing that he's
attached any value to is his Gundam, Exia.

Soma appeared to have the rough equivalent of a Newtype flash. There were no
special effects associated with it, but she clearly registered that something
was wrong BEFORE the beam from the Thrones pierced through the hanger wall.

Beware random thoughts in no particular order:

Before this episode I wondered if the Corners were originally loyal to
CB's cause but later had a falling out that led them to become traitors.
Alejandro's comment about his family waiting 200 years for access to
Veda makes me think that they were always using CB for their own agenda.
The Corners probably wanted to use CB to destabilize the world so they
could rule it all. In some senses they almost seem like the "Lucifer"
to Aeolia Schenberg's/Celestial Being's "God". This turn of events
actually disappointed me because I was really curious to see if CB ever
had a feasible plan. Now we'll never know because the Corners family
have manipulated so much that I wonder how much, if any, of the original
plan is still intact.

The episode confirmed that the Trinity Team was working for the newly
deceased Laguna Harvey. I wonder if the Trinity siblings really
believed they were working for Celestial Being or were they lying to the
Ptolemais Meisters? They had to realize something is up when they are
betraying their own supposed team members.

The big space fight was interesting but I wonder why Corners needed to
shut down the Ptolemais Gundams when he did since they were losing at
that point anyway. It seemed like a clumsily plotted/manufactured
situation to cut the Ptolemais crew off from Veda and force them to cut
over to the standalone system.

What I found odd was that Alejandro said that they needed to shut down
the Gundams to ensure an HRL victory.

I wonder if the problem with restarting the Virtue was a mechanical
issue related to the Trial System role of the Nadleeh, a technological
problem with the connection between Tieria and Veda, or was it merely
because Tieria was depressed and spaced out because he lost connectivity
to Veda.
