Ricardo,
I am forwarding this response to the relevant lists so that you may get
a better and broader base of answers. I hope others on these lists
will assist in attempting to answer you very good question.
Here is our (INEGroup's) take presently:
1.) there are two DNSO efforts in the works currently one is the
DNSO.ORG (See www.dnso.org). OUr opinion and the opinion of many
others is that this groups intent is of little interest in individual
intellectual
property rights unless you happen to be supporter of the gTLD-MoU
CORE.PAB/POC or are with some rather questionable international
organizations such as the INTA, ICC, or WIPO. If so and have good
long term contacts, or are willing to put forth some "Mordido", you
should have receive good intellectual property right protection.
The other is DNSO.NET, which we(INEGroup) favor as it is an open
and much more transparent effort for becoming the DNSO to the ICANN.
However it does not enjoy the "Special" support of the ICANN and is
somewhat opposed to the INTA and the ICC in principal.
2.) The ICANN - Well the situation with the ICANN is a tenious one at best at
this
juncture form our (INEGroup) ability to see clearly. They are not greatly
interested in Intellectual property rights for the small business or
individual
Domain Name owner, nor are the particularly open, transparent, or
factually accountable. However they do enjoy some large company support.
Bring lots of "Mordido" it will be helpful I am sure.
