Ellen and all,
I completely agree with Ellens comments here. Well done Ellen.
I would also follow up with some specific comments of my own
relating to the taking of polls and other mechanisms for getting
an idea of where others that are not members of these lists
might reside.
As in my first suggestion to Michaels post on this thread in response to
Ellen's I suggested that some basic background information be provided
so as a poll taker had at least some basic information, if not completely
familiar with the terms used in the questions of the poll, could get
an unbiased or less biased view.
It should also be noted that Ellen, took great exception to our poll which
was much broader in scope and had a more "Representative Sample"
of the Stakeholders regarding the question of Prepayment on Domain
Name registration. It is certainly unfortunate that Ellen took such
blatant exception as we felt that our poll, using recognized polling
techniques,
or which several of our members are in the employ of several processional
polling organizations (Roper for example) and have kindly offered their
expertise pro bono.
So, we will be continuing to take such polls, as we have for over 2 years
on different areas as well as DNS, and other directly related Internet
areas of interest. We will publish most, if not all of these polls
periodically
to these lists as well as others that other of our members are subscribed
to. They will also be posted from time to time on some Internet news
sites as well from time to time or done in conjunction with those News
agencies that are directly participating.
