as a most-of-the-time Californian, I share your concern/desire. I would
personally prefer to have the meeting closer to my home.
It's probably worth noting, however, that a process which is trying to be
inclusive should make efforts to improve accessibility for those who are LESS
involved, rather than more. As such, already-active folk, like you and I and
the others you list, could be argued to be LESS important to venue choice.
