I'd like to chime in that I would be opposed to this. UseNet may be more
open, but it would greatly increase the noise level. I read-only feed,
maybe, but posting should require a mailer-list subscription.

In this day and age, when 6.5 GB disks are available for under $150US, and
POP3 can get your mail every 10 minutes, I can't imagine having mailbox
space allocation problems.

I actually consider the mailer-list superior to UseNet/INN. One can get
much finer control, no cancel-wars, no massive cross-posts (comparatively
speaking), won't burn a T1, and won't tax a RAID5 pack. Mainly, you only
get the noise you want to hear.
