I presume you mean 'has anyone talked about opening up the aol.com domain to
competition'? But that's not really the point, is it? In what way is .com
similar to .aol.com? 
I know NSI want the world to believe that they have built the brand called
.com - but they are the managers of it under a contract. Whatever they may
wish to assert, there is no ownership of a brand called .com. Unlike with
.aol.com
