There should be absolutely no restrictions on what ever name the customer chooses to use, period, full-stop.Um, I'm not advocating they not be permitted to register the name. I
never have. Nor would I.
How disingenuous, but typical of you.
No he is not. He is saying that they do NOT have the right to discriminateSorry Roland, you are very wrong here in your assumptions.
Network Operators and Service Providers have the right to know who and
what they are hosting and providing services to. And to know that
some people will associate them with that content. Are you saying
that they don't have the right to know that?
in their business practices in doing so, so as to restrict access on a
prejudicial basis of any kind.
Yes and doing so wrongly and based on illegal basis. DiscriminationMany of the providers were absolutely not aware of what was happening
(the day of automation) and with now only ONE notable exception, the
providers have been taking action to disassociate their companies'
from these domains.
of this sort is WRONG and illegal. In some states, Texas for instance,
it is illegal for me, if I have knowledge of it occurring not to report it to
the proper authorities.
Stop providing service on what basis is the point here William. No one has been applying a lot of pressure. With only two exceptions
there was not more than two emails sent (one to notify them of what
they were hosting, the other to thank them for responding). After
repeated emails with one provider, who was asking me questions about
the situation, and clarifying things, decided in his own concience
that the right thing to do was to stop providing service.
Wake up!!
That wasNo I wouldn't. And I would not care either as it is not my business
his decision. All I have done was make them aware of it, except in
the case above where the person SOLICITED my opinions. What is wrong with that Roland? Wouldn't you want to know if you were
hosting a site at http://www.thethirdreichwillrise.com ?
what my clients may have as a domain name on MY servers. Being
a nazi is not against the law, although it is wrong, I believe. But my
belief as a service provider are not at issue, nor should they be.
My issue with that customer is that his Domain is available and the
service that I am providing him is adequate for his/her/it's needs.
Nothing more and nothing less. Anything else on my part as the service
provide or hosting provider/registrar is just another form of censorship.
CENSORSHIP IN ANY OF ITS FORMS IS WRONG!
