Yup. So much better to cough up one's own, and this one really has been
sticking in Tony's craw...

The ITU also did not approve world peace or a special prize for Tony.
There are all sorts of things the ITU didn't approve because they weren't
on the ITUY's agenda.
Notes from the meeting show no discussion of the gTLD MoU, contrary to a
loud announcement that Tony disseminated at the time. His announcement
claimed all sorts of dire effects and decisions. Unfortunately, there is
no documentation to support the claims, just as there are none to support
the claims he is making here. No surprise, they are the same claims.
During Tony's original effort to make these claims, he gave a single
citation to a large body of text. Several of us reviewed it in detail and
could find no text to support his claims.
He was asked to cite the SPECIFIC text supporting his claims. He did not
respond.
I'm sure that he will now be more forthcoming with substantiation for these
false claims.

ps. Meanwhile I notice that the discussion has moved on to focus solely on
the question of IANA "authority" and has otherwise ignored that rather
considerable array of misstatements in Meek's article. Of course, it's
greatly interesting to see such vigorous assertions of fact about IANA's
authority from people who have had no experience in actually dealing with
IANA and its decision processes.
