On whether or not this and that little message from NSI constitutes spam, I am reminded of how difficult it was for people to adjust to the fact that AT&T was no longer THE telephone company. I am also reminded of the William Lederer book, "A Nation of Sheep." Well, my fur would not a sweater make. One becomes captured out of force of habit unless one thinks through the implications of having a private profit-seeking corporation continue to act as THE forum for Internet policy. What I'm saying is that the bifurcation of NSI from the Internet and its policies as a whole must be made complete. NSI is free to do what it will with those who elect to remain tied thereto; everyone else, who does not wish to march off blindly bleating into the sunset, need not be burdened by whatever it is that NSI has to say. Consequently, I communicate only through IFWP until such time that either internic.net becomes dissociated from NSI or the equivalent type of general domain policy list is transferred from internic.net to some other list and list owner. Anyone who wants to read this as saying "I'm not going to play in your yard any more" is free to do so, but the fact remains that inertia is a powerful force -- not literally true in terms of physics but I think my meaning will be understood.
