Quite so, if by *ready* you mean that when ICANN acts unilaterally
and without mandate, the wheels of government (yes, good ol
USG) are in mesh to open an investigation of what on earth the
functionaries in the DoC think they are doing. There is at least a
pretense that this process is accountable; who's holding the
parties to it?

  It is up to the PEOPLE to hold the DOC/NTIA to doing their jobs
as public servants.  It is my opinion that too often many governmental
departments like the DOC/NTIA forget that they are SERVANTS
of the people.  Hence WE THE PEOPLE need to remind them!

Note:  BTW Kerry, I noticed that toy did not CC your response here
          to the DOC/NTIA.  However I am doing so in this response...

 

I think if any quasi-governmental body touches the WIPO report
with a ten-metre pole, it should have a lot more than a ragtag
bunch of protesters breathing down its neck -- even if it is not an
election issue. Yet.

  Agreed, and something that we collectively should not be forgetting
when we go to the poles.
