Roberto Gaetano a crit:
> As you note, he already admitted "his own
> culpability" for this tremendous sin.
I cannot refrain from remarking on this statement of Robert Gaetano,
because it demonstrates the fundamental flaw operating even now in
every episode of this process. Mr. gaetano says "this tremendous
sin", in a tone of sarcasm, as if to say that what was done was a
thing of little importance . Well, what was it? No more and no less
than the subversion of democracy. Is that a small thing? Is it
really of little importance, as Mr. Gaetano suggests, that a
democratic process of community consensus-building was eliminated
and an unelected and unpopular group of people given the authority
to decide other people's future?
Subversion is a treasonous activity. It is in essence an overthrow,
however temporary, of the political system for which our ancestors
fought and died - representative democracy. That is what Joe Sims
and the others working with him to subvert the White Paper process
and the IFWP accomplished, and we are living now with the
consequences, the same ones that always ensue when democracy is
overthrown: dictatorship and fascism. We are seeing this every day,
in the manipulation of the DNSO by the INTA and the business
community, and more clearly now in the usurpation of the NCDNHC by
ISOC.
Is holding elections before a constituency is formed under clear and
just guidelines any part of a democratic system? Is the
self-nomination of a person who is not a holder of a non-commercial
domain name, for a seat on the governing body of the DNSO as a
representative of the NCDNHC, as David Maher has done, any part of a
democracy? Are the unregulated and unpoliced free-for-alls that this
process has degenerated into, with their opportunity for the
grabbing of power by the strongest rather than the deserving, any
part of the democratic heritage that is the foundation of our laws
and our society, that makes life tolerable, and without which we are
no better than beasts?
Mr. Gaetano pretends that Joe Sims and the others' subversion of
democracy was a matter of little consequence, passed with small
effect. But the truth is otherwise. The effect of the prevailing of
injustice and dictatorship in this process is the current
intolerable situation, which must disgust and infuriate anyone who
loves democracy. To see persons and organizations who have no right,
no legitimate claim, to membership in a policy-making body take that
body and its authority away from its rightful membership by trickery
and force is to witness a nightmare that we who were born into
freedom never feared before to witness: fascism in our land. This is
what Joe Sims and his co-conspirators have wrought, and this is what
his lies were meant to cover up.
