Stef,

The mail server you are using paris.ics.uci.edu([128.195.1.50]) is
blackholed by the ORBS project, which tests and blocks mail from
mailservers that are shown to be "open relays" since most spam
originates from them. Mail servers can be configured by their
operators to block mail from blacklisted mail servers, and that is
what is happening.

Perhaps the admin of that server is not aware they are being
blackholed, and what s/he needs to do to get off of it.

You might want to refer him/her to the ORBS website at
http://www.orbs.org

You can test if your mail server is on the ORBS by doing a nslookup in
the form

nslookup 50.1.195.128.relays.orbs.org

Notice the IP Address is listed in reverse theren

If it is black holed this will result in :

Name: 2.0.0.127.relays.orbs.org
Address: 127.0.0.2
Aliases: 50.1.195.128.relays.orbs.org

If you get no result, then the server is not on the ORBS blackhole
list.

Nice way to get rid of mail from a certain someone...just enable ORBS
on the list mailserver, netcom has quite a few open relays, including
the one at the dallas pop.
