Oh Spare us the drama Gordon.  No one made such a suggestion.

Sheesh, can't you deal with the facts, and not over dramatize every
little thing into something that it isn't?

All that the USG would need to do is direct the root server operators
to point to a new master root server.  I doubt there would be much of
an issue with them if the USG directed them to do so.

The co-operative agreement is clear, the USG retains the power and
ability to transfer control to another party should it choose to,
either at the expiration of the agreement, or if NSI breaches the
agreement.

The are required to transfer all the information necessary for the USG
to do this.
