Gordon and all,
I would have to agree with Gordon here. ICANN and in specific
Mike Roberts, Esther Dyson, and Joe Simms have not been conducting
themselves in the best interest of the stakeholder community as a whole
in as much as remaining neutral in their attitude towards NSI. If I were
in a decision position with NSI I would be very weary of the ICANN and
it's intentions with respect to my customer base and my business.
ICANN has abundantly shown that it has little interest in the benefit of the
Stakeholder community in its arbitrary decisions to date, and is only
seemingly seeking to "Capture" the entire DNS, along with the
IP address space. As such, it is incumbent on NSI in order to protect
it's position in the industry, it's customer base, and it's stock holders
to be cautious and insistent on certain precepts. What those precepts
should be determined by it's customer base and it's stock holders
of course. It would be wise for NSI to get a good handle on that element
so as to be able to be prepared to support their position. I am not
sure that they have done this to the extent that they need to or should
however....
