E-commerce ignored By PETER WITTS 10sep98 THE head of the National Office For The Information economy, Paul Twomey, said yesterday he was "terrified" by the lack of motivation of Australian businesses to adapt to the Internet. His criticisms were echoed by telecommunications analyst Paul Budde, who attacked the business community for relying too heavily on the Government and its agencies to promote e-commerce. The claims were made at the Sydney launch of NOIE's Strategy For The Information Economy, in which the office suggested the role for government would be to act as a "user, supplier and purchaser of electronic services", and to facilitate e-commerce by moving physical laws governing trading into cyberspace.
