My grandfather immigrated from Italy to the U.S when
he was young. One of his first jobs when he arrived
was in the coal mines. After he almost lost a leg in
a mining accident, he went on to start a small grocery
store chain in Pennsylvania, before retiring to South
Florida in the 50's.

While all of this was going on, he was able to return
to Italy to find a wife, and raise a family of three
girls and a boy. One of those girls is my mother.

My Family Reunion

This past weekend, this side of my family met in the
north Georgia "mountains" for a family reunion. It
was great to see everyone again, all in one place,
and all at the same time.

During one of the dinners, I told two of my uncles
what I'd been up to, and more importantly, what ICANN
and the U.S. Government had been up to. They were
flabbergasted.

"How come we haven't heard about this?" they asked!
(Both are retired business executives, and one even
reads the Wall Street Journal every day.)

I then proceeded to tell them about the last couple
of weeks of activities -- the hearings, the letters,
the charges of collusion, and of course, the press
coverage.

"Mr. Smith goes to Washington" one of them said.

For those who have never seen it, "Mr. Smith Goes
to Washington" is a Frank Capra movie from the 1930s.
It highlights the power the press has to suppress a
story, even when it involves a scandal that is being
exposed in the hallowed halls of Congress.

If you haven't seen this movie, I strongly suggest
that you do. If you can't, or if you'd just like
to refresh your memory, check out:

FWIW, I believe that my uncle is absolutely correct.
In my next posting, I'll provide a summary of the
story that I believe is being suppressed.

Until then . . .

Respectfully,

P.S. Here's a different story on one of my cousins.
He recently left his job as a federal prosecutor with
the U.S. Attorney's Office, to pursue this new venture:
