Then by all means let them revisit it.  But in the meantime they are
BOUND to act within the parameters of those bylaws.

There is no question here, the bylaws were violated.  End of story.

You cannot change that by modifying the bylaws later.

I strenuously disagree.  I for one want to know why ICANN would
violate its own bylaws, which they have pointed to as a reason why we
should trust them to act in our best interests despite the lack of
representation we currently suffer from.

If they can act so quickly to ignore and violate any section of the
bylaws that even a MAJORITY of the those positioning scream about,
what kind of trust can they engender?  Those bylaws are supposed to
protect ALL interests, even those that are not necessarily in the
majority of participants.  If they can be ignored willy nilly like
this, then they offer no protection at all, and provide no
justification for trust.
