It may be useful for you to have clarified this point, since the
sense of your previous message was certainly that.

"Global village idiot" is perfectly apt as a characterization of the
Australian government's censorship. It would have been more precise,
and the ACLU would have been well justified, to characterize it as
"arrogant, "illegal", "an attack on democratic rights", and even
"totalitarian", but the ACLU was forebearing and merely called the
Australian government by a humorous phrase. Their forebearance is
commendable, under the circumstances.
