Pete and all,
Pete, respectfully your scenario is somewhat misplaced or
off base to a degree, but I understand you point. The problem is
that the proverbial shoe is on the wrong foot. Yeah, it is a shoe
all right and shoes belong on feet, but that is about as far as your
scenario goes, in this particular instance.
I don't believe that anyone can classify Jay as a NSI apologist
by any stretch of the imagination. The public record shoes this
quite clearly. I can say that CNET, at times depending on whom writes
what story regarding ICANN, is by in large seemingly very much in
ICANN's camp. This is not good journalism as it is bias, or they are
not reporting both sides of the issues.
Besides the story should not be and really isn't NSI vs ICANN as
Esther Dyson has tried to make it such in her response to Jamie LOve
and Ralph Nader in their letter to the ICANN and Esther Dyson on June
11th of this year. Rather the story should be on a proper process
of the transitioning of a public resource to the private sector, and how that
should and is being done with respect to the stakeholders involved.
