I can't imagine anything that ICANN would do that would cause the
Internet community to take its DNS from someplace else en masse.
As long as they maintain the status quo, ie. keep things working,
and make sure any changes (e.g. new TLDs) are carefully planned and
tested, the Internet community's not going to look elsewhere for
root service.
