First - I still wait for some comment from the administrators. These
comments are just made on the general matter as such.
Freedom of speech is not a freedom to insult. Even freedom of speech
advocates tend to agree on this matter. Freedom of speech is not an
absolute right in any country today. You could restrict freedom of speech
by using contract law (non-disclosure agreements), corporate law
(protection for trade secrets) and by using privacy law (prohibition
against insults). Of course you could also restrict freedom of speech by
killing your opponents or threat them to silence, or prevent them from
sending their mail to an supposedly open mailing list. The "information
wants to be free"-attitude would lead to the way that you should never
restrict freedom of speech. Some people strongly advocates this idea.
Others prefer the first description above, with freedom of the press and
freedom of speech, but with certain restrictions. Then again, some people,
like dictators and criminals or other suspect individuals and corporations
would advocate the final example.
Just my 0,2 ECU for what it's worth.
Best Regards,
Mikael
