What worries me, and many others who oppose WTO policies, is not a lack of
reporting. It's reporting that emphasizes the violence at the expense of
discussing the substance of the protests. (An old trick.) The Boston Globe,
a liberal paper, did pretty well. They led with the violence but gave the
impression (at least, I got the impression) that few demonstrators were
actually violent in the sense of breaking windows, etc. Mostly, there were
passive resistors being cleared away by the police. And one demonstrator
was quoted as saying that only 1% of the demonstrators were doing anything
disruptive. (Of course, in such a big crowd, 1% can make quite a ruckus.)

The public radio stations are doing pretty well at reporting real disputes.
