Finally - ICANN@Large membership issues forth an announcement. The most stricking part of this is that they are vetting 12,000 applications "currently verifying applications for membership". It's obvious to me that Jody A. Baram the ICANN At Large Membership Program Manager has little election experience. The cost of vetting 12,000 applications exceeds the benefit. 12,000 individuals are incredible numbers well worth any political organizations survival. However I fear ICANN is on the well traveled road of the GA. The level of trust in the directorship is completely missing and as such they will end up pissing off the at large members. Watch and see. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 18:19:31 -0700 From: At Large Membership Program <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: At Large Membership <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: ICANN At Large Membership Status Report Greetings! You are receiving this message because you signed up for the ICANN At Large Membership Program. We have had an overwhelming response to our At Large Membership website. Since we launched the site on February 25, we have had over 12,000 registrations from 135 countries. Many thanks for signing up. Please be aware that we are currently verifying applications for membership. Once this is completed and some additional refinements are made to the website, we will begin sending out Pin Numbers. It may take another 8 weeks for the Pin Number to arrive by the Postal Service. We thank you again for your patience. For the majority of At Large Membership announcements, please watch the news section of the At Large website. We will contact you via email only for major announcements concerning nominations and election procedures. We thank you for your participation, and we look forward to serving you, online or in person, at upcoming ICANN Public Meetings. Jody A. Baram Program Manager ICANN At Large Membership Program
