Mike Roberts, ICANN CEO, is quoted in the New York Times as saying,
in regard to the At-large Nominating Committee: "ICANN directors and
staff worked hard to consult widely in the process of forming these
committees".

The simple answer to the question "Why aren't there any at-large
Internet users on the At-large Nominating Committee?" must be, then,
that Mr. Roberts couldn't find any.

There are only about 50 million of us. We are hard to find.

The DOC promised us, in 1998, equal representation on the ICANN
Board, but there are none of us on it. ICANN promised us equal
representation in the DNSO, but the only one of the seven DNSO
constituencies we might be allowed to join - the NCDNHC - is run by
ISOC. Now we are excluded from the Nominating Committee of the
At-large Membership so that we can't be nominated to represent even
ourselves.

Under these conditions, anyone who joins the ICANN At-large
Membership is a dupe and a shill for the businesses - trademark
interests, telcos, and the IBM/MCI/AT&T combine - running ICANN.
