If the ACLU, EPIC, and CPSR are so concerned about Internet
democracy, why have they waited silently during the past two years
while ICANN was being created and consolidating its power? They have
known all along what was going on. Why have they done nothing until
now?

The answer almost certainly is that they are beholden to the US
Government or are afraid of it. In either case, they will not
effectively oppose ICANN's policies. Instead, they will become
another rubber stamp for ICANN, this time from the public sector,
just as Markle, the ALA, and CDT have become its rubber stamps for
the phoney At-large elections.
