The DNSO was formed by an undemocratic, gerrymandered process from
which individual domain name holders, non-profit organizations, and
small businesses were excluded. The candidates for Board seats
nominated by the DNSO General Assembly (GA), the only popular
organization in ICANN, were ignored by the DNSO Names Council in
favor of candidates representing the vested interests which took
control of the DNSO by illicit means abetted by an unelected ICANN
Board. The same illicit and unfair methods will be employed in the
present election.

James Love has never spoken up about or protested the unfair means
used by the DNSO Names Council (itself unelected) to choose its
candidates to the Board, nor has he protested the thousand and one
unfair, undemocratic, and illicit tactics used by the DNSO and the
ICANN Board to evade the law and institute unpopular and anti-user
rules and procedures for giving control of the domain name system to
American big business.

Now, Mr. Love proposes himself as a DNSO candidate to the ICANN
Board, on a platform apparently consonant with users' interests. If
Mr. Love were to be chosen as a Board member from the DNSO, which in
any case is highly doubtful given the nature of the process and the
hostility of the DNSO Names Council (the power in the DNSO) to
anyone but its friends, it will only be through a deal: Mr. Love
will act as the token populist for the DNSO so that it can claim to
allow user representation, in exchange for satisfying Mr. Love's
political ambitions.

By participating in, and hoping to take advantage of, the patently
illegal process of ICANN and its DNSO, Mr. James Love has shown
himself to be no friend of Internet users, whose interests are
diametrically opposed to those of ICANN, and who can never become
part of an illegal, unfair, and undemocratic process like that used
to conjure up ICANN and its DNSO, which represent nothing but the
arrogant power of big business.
