If anyone is interested I just got my N900, and currently working on a
blog talking about the various hacks and trying them out. I will be
emailing you all as soon as the Maemo5 update is finalized from the
N900. I intend to install sim cards to tonight.. Just to try out for
fun for a month. It will also be with me next meeting. It's not soo
much a phone, but a great hack device ;)

I think it might be a good idea to shuffle the order of the upcoming
topics and presentations a bit. I wanted to get someone to do a
presentation on firewalling with iptables, and ideally stateful
firewalls, next month in February. Then I will do a diskless systems
presentation in March. With Kevin Johnson doing a presentation on
Base/Snort, etc in April.
Now I think we might swap around the diskless systems and firewall
presentations. I will go ahead and present in February on diskless
systems. Then we can do firewalling in March, which will provide a bit
more time to find/lobby a presenter. Also firewalling will be kinda a
pre-requisite to Kevin's presentation. I could be wrong but I think
the
most common use of Base and Snort is in conjunction with iptables.
After
all Snort has to have something to monitor, which Base reports on in
nutshell.
That will be a better logical flow, since Aprils presentation will
build
off that from March. The diskless systems is moot to either, therefore
does not make sense to stick that presentation between the other two.
Those are my thoughts and figured I would run them by the group for
others.
