I'm up for replacing our SOHO firewall/router/access point, which is a Netgear. I'm looking hard at the Cisco 1812, but it's quite expensive I think. I see there are plenty of groups and companies out there that make a Linux-based firewall appliance. Is there anyone locally that makes or plays with making a Linux firewall appliance?
I'm looking for something that will mount on a wall (rack mount will work - I just flip the brackets around and screw into a wall, but smaller than 19" would be best), has 8 ethernet ports, wireless G+, and VPN. Netgear support has completely gone in the gutter. There are times when I think just gimme a shell and I'll solve the issue in 30 seconds. No translators needed! So if I can get my hands on (or build) something that is between the Netgear FVG318 ($130) and Cisco 1812 ($700) that'll allow me to have full control, that would be awesome. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive http://marc.info/?l=jaxlug-list&r=1&w=2 RSS Feed http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.xml Unsubscribe [email protected]
