I will be getting our old unneeded AIX box - an IBM RS/6000 44p Model 170. As a condition of taking possession, I must provide a report that the hard drives were wiped. My main concern is that of licensing and installation media of AIX (I think we had trashed it when the server passed it's 7 years out of production mark). It has been a while since I have had to worry about any kind of licensing. Can someone explain AIX licensing and cost? I think the latest version I can run is 5.3. I expect to have an offer letter on the unix engineer position this Friday. They are hiring me based on a casual but lengthy interview and potential to learn quickly, not exaggerated experience claims, so thanks to all in the list for the encouragement and advice!
