Its that time again, seeking a topic and presenter for July. We have August taken care of already, Kevin Johnson is scheduled to do a presentation on Snort and Base. We might need to do another security related presentation. Given all the hacking going on this year, Gmail, Sony playstations, Citi credit cards, and now the Arizona Police department.
Yes this is more along the lines of Infraguard type of stuff. However Linux can play a major role in helping to secure and keep things secure. After all exploits on Linux or Unix based systems typically are considerably harder than on other platforms. Though that does not mean applications running on Linux will be as difficult to exploit. Surely not if they are web facing apps that were developed in house, etc. Anyway given the times, we might want another security related presentation beyond the Snort and Base presentation. I did a basic one on xtables earlier this year. We can revisit firewalling, maybe package analysis with tcpdump and other things. Though other topics and presentations are welcome as always :) -- William L.
