This list has always been subject to periods of silence, most commonly -
but not always - around weekends.

If by "latest Fedora", you mean F17, I'm running it now.

Gnome 3 is an abomination. I've switched my desktop to Cinnamon, which
doesn't have quite everything Gnome 2 did, but has more than the
compatibility feature of Gnome 3. Plus, it appears that creating
Cinnamon applets is a lot easier than creating Gnome applets.

Alchemy is apparently broken (it was also broken in F16). Among other
things, this means that the Gourmet Recipe manager app is almost
completely unusable, since it uses Alchemy to talk to its database.

My network interfaces seem to have changes their names from the
traditional "ethx" to stuff like "p10p1". I think this is at least in
part to the proliferation of virtual interfaces that support VM guests.
The control panel for networks is dumbed down to the point where you
have to open the details dialog to even see the NIC device name.

Gnome 3 has been widely criticized. There were claims made that the
redesign was to make it tablet-friendly, but tablet owners say it's no
such thing. In my case, I don't have and never have had a clean artsy
desktop; my desktop is typically littered with icons of things I need to
not forget about and the toolbars are loaded with quick-access and
status monitoring applets that ensure I am kept informed about the state
of the system, the shop, and the world at large. Some of my most
heavily-used apps don't have standard Gnome launch characteristics and
they took all of that away and replaced it with something that's
constantly slapping my open windows/screens around (I turned it off) and
a bunch of social interface stuff (I can't afford to be social when I'm
working. It's too distracting). One of the most truly annoying losses
was that I can no longer hit a hot-key and get Gnotes, which is where I
keep my to-do lists and project notes.

Despite the above criticisms, however, I have been generally happy with
F17.
