Just a quick note about Ray's apps.

Ray's apps are really quite brilliant, and often are incredibly complex, while also being very straightfoward. It can actually be fairly difficult to integrate some of them into existing design and code templates because of the level of complexity.

He also doesn't necessarily build out the apps for unzip and use type usage. So using Galleon and FuseTalk would be much different ramp up processes.

Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for Ray and his code. I'm using his bug tracker on my site, and am considering dropping my older forums for his new stuff. I follow his blog regularly, and have donated a number of amazon wishlist items to him for the usages of his code.

It's just important to know that using Galleon would like require quite a bit of additional work to get it working in the site.

Just my 2 cents.

Jake

PS: Again, nothing bad to say about Ray at all! :)

No specific board in mind... a few months ago you sent out this email to the
list... maybe we could consider it...

Ray Camden just released his bulletin board application Galleon. It
was previously only available on the Macromedia DRKs:
http://ray.camdenfamily.com/downloads/forums.zip

You can see the forums in action here:
http://ray.camdenfamily.com/forums

If you like it and use it, consider rewarding Ray's contributions to
the CF community by getting him something from his Amazon wish list:

This application was used as the codebase for the Flex front-end I
built for my CFDJ article on Flex with ColdFusion. Now that Galleon
is freely available I'll rework the Flex side of things, make sure
everything still works, and release the Flex code to everyone. It's a
great way to get into Flex if you've been interested, and I think
Clint said he was going to release his blog application as well.

Galleon is one more reason to JUST SAY NO to PHP! :-)

Matt,
Should we look into getting a copy of the ColdFusion message board
included
in the new site?
A message board would be a nice addition. Did you have a specific one
in mind? I'm just starting a new open source CF message board project
but it's not going to be ready for a while. FuseTalk offers free
licenses for CFUGs--I'll see about getting Patrick to contact them.
