IE is kinda wonky when it comes to certain fields being read/write once.
So
most of the time I do something like this:
var inp1;
if (document.all) {
inp1 = document.createElement("<input name=\"case"+iteration+"\"/>");
}
else {
inp1 = document.createElement("INPUT");
}
inp1.name="case"+iteration;
