Cameron, and All

How is evryone?

First,

As someone pointed out to me. He thought I was trying to start a FLAME War.
No. That is the farthest thing from the truth.

It seemed to me that Dave Schuck was suffering with a migraine over his server problems. As he said he is a product of the '80s, LSIs we big then. If you do not know what an LSI is it is Large Scale Integration. A computer (PDP-11) the entire thing had been scaled down to the size of an 81/2 by 11 sheet of paper. Big stuff in 80. In the late 80s VSLI. Very Large Scale Integration even smaller computer.

Today that whole computer is only ¼ inch square chip part of a whole set of multi integrated chips in your cell phone. The same 16 bit computer that used to take up a 19 inch wide equipment rack for about 24 inched deep ( front to back) and about 24 inched tall( top to Bottom) square about 6 cubic feet which is now a ¼ square inch chip and used to take about 30 Amp at 120 volts ac to run all of this is now all in your cell phone running on a little battery for about 4 days. It is amazing what miniaturization and power conservation has done for us in hardware.

I am product of a much early set of trail blazers, A former Computer GOD which had hundreds of customers begging for my golden hands to be laid upon the sick and dead Computers prior to the 80s.

We would walk in and lay our golden hands upon the computer “Lazerth” and raise him from the dead.

Much to the grateful appreciation of the many users the especially the owners.

As computer were once the enormously huge hardware behemoths and required many “rituals” to be preformed before the tribes of user could be blessed by their God they are not now. There were many of us Computer GODs in the old days. Now with PCs and laptops that are no need for the former golden hand Computer GODs to raise Lazerth from the dead. Now days if the hardware becomes sick or dead it is just like a tire. Just replace it.

As for the air inside the tire you always have a backup copy.

As for Dave Schuck, I have pounded my head against many computer problems and one thing that we Computer GODs learned was is that at times we just need to step back from a problem once we have the migraine.

It seemed to me that he was becoming very frustrated over his problem.

If you would take a minute to read, I know that is a hard thing to do these days is read.

I had made, What I thought was some humorous remarks.

First the long standing, “Sacrifice the entrails of a goat upon the keyboard”. Even before my time when I was first stating out some old salts calmed me down about a problem that I was working on. Yes I stepped back and relaxed and thought about the problem just as quick found the correct answer. The term they used “Sacrifice the entrails of a goat upon the keyboard”. It is an old old term for stepping back, a look at the problem, relax.

Second the "incense process” is a pun on “INSENSE” burning . Burning insence bring about a calming or soothing effect through aroma therapy. The incense I refer to is the madding nature (sometimes) of computer software.

Third the reference “be sure to use High Octane aviation gas during the incense process”. That sometime the nature “of is the madding nature of computer software problems” drive one to almost becoming out of control.

Fourth that the Computer GODs might be appeased by making a burnt offering upon the keyboard. As everyone knows that the best keyboards to the ones that are total ash. ( Cannot do any work that way)

Now as to the peak of the process when the aviation gas is in the transformation process progressing thru the chemical and thermal process of metamorphous from a liquid single compound state to an highly excited vaporous state of smaller different compounds one then at that point should make praises to the computer software God. That at this peak of thermal activity surely the God must be appeased. Another pun ( Cannot do any work that way)

Now as to the make praises to the computer software God. As in Major league one of the players did not believe in “Jobuti” and Eddie Harris (Chelcie Ross ) stole “Jobuti” rum. Bad thing in that movie. If you have not seen this movie you missed some good comedy.

“Jobuti” reached out and touched Eddie. That is the pun in line 4.

Now I do not want anything bad to happened to anyone and especially Dave Schuck.

Therefore I thought a little humor would help Dave step back and relax and look at the problem from a rested and relaxed perspective.

I hope this further deeping of one’s thought will help to enlighten everyone to the deep humor I tried to present..........

I'm not sure I see the humor in JVM tuning. But if it makes you feel
better I will chuckle quietly while wondering what you could possibly
be talking about.
