Have any of you heard/seen this?  Quite an interesting approach.  It seems like it could possibly backfire and drive people away from a browser that doesn't work properly.  Will see see an update to MX7 come out that addresses this for cfform?

quote:
" via adotas: Now that Microsoft has shipped a new update of its Internet Explorer, multimedia content and the way it’s rendered on Web pages could be altered forever â€" and could affect the industry by disabling interaction with many flash advertisements.

As a result of the company’s multimillion dollar patent dispute with Chicago firm Eolas Technologies, Inc, the new IE patch â€"released Feb. 28thâ€"means that Internet Explorer won’t be able to directly interact with Microsoft ActiveX controls loaded by the APPLET, EMBED, or OBJECT elements without first activating the user interface with an extra mouse click.

According to PC Magazine, some widely deployed programs that use ActiveX controls within the browser include Adobe’s Reader and Flash, Apple’s QuickTime Player, Microsoft’s Windows Media Player, RealNetworks’ RealPlayer and Sun’s JVM (Java Virtual Machine).

Okay, so now how does one get around whats going on?

It's fine for Flash advertisements... you will still see them, but you can't initially interact with them. Adobe has posted some information about Active Content in a FAQ. So now we have to basically load our controls externally.

Adobe has created a Active Content Developer Center.

"This center is your source for information and resources related to expected modifications to Internet Explorer that Microsoft has recently announced. The changes that Microsoft is expected to make may affect the use of active content in some web pages."

So how many of you have started to modify the way your Flash, Quicktimes, etc. are being served up? I have to admit I have done nothing yet about this.
