Just me, but with a university audience in mind, i'd stick with CF and keep the application easy to use.

I used to work at a university. I'm not sure who your target audience is, but Flex and requiring Flash 9 may be a hinderance to users using your web site.  Some universities are strict while others are not so strict as to installing software such as Flash 9.

We are developing (infant stages) a new commercial web site. This site was made for FLEX because of the categories. records, sub records and sub records of sub-records. The drill down using FLEX will be way above what is out there now. 
 
Question I have is, Flex requires Flash Player 9 and this site will be launched in September. A high number of users will be universities that do not readily allow updates to their computers. In you guys EXPERT opinions, do you think using FLEX will hurt or help the site.
