Ray,

I recommend storing the user search preferences in a cookie. That can
be easily updated via JavaScript and can also be easily ready by CF on
the server side when populating subsequent search forms.

If you have a lot of search terms (I just assisted a co-worker with one
with over 100 options) you may consider storing the options using bits
instead of in a list or similar structure in the cookie. This can
greatly reduce the data storage size but adds some complexity so only
recommended if necessary.

Subject: Re: [DFW CFUG] Javascript to set a session variable

HI All,

I am guessing either I did not explain myself or It cannot be done.

Anyway here goes.

Requirement: Users search criteria to be maintained such that when the
user
requests a second search then the previous search criteria will be
loaded
into the search page at onload.

Thus the user then has to only make a few changes to re-execute the
search.

This eliminates the need for the user to completely fill out all of the
whole search page
in order to do a second search.

I thought that storing these parameters in session variables
at the time of submit was the best way.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Regards
Ray
