Chris,

I took Rob Gonda's 8-hour class on Ajax at CFUnited and failry comfortable with using it at this point.  I have found several spots in my applications where it is just a really good fit/solution.  Go download the examples from Rob's blog http://www.robgonda.com/blog/projects/ajaxcfc/.  You will find clear examples of how to use it, then you can take those and modify how you see fit for your particular needs.  That should get you started for sure.  If anyone is interested, I wouldn't mind doing a presentation on some things you can do with it at one of the meetings.

howdy folks,

does anyone know where I can get an AjaxCFC walk-through/tutorial/please-hold-my-hand-while-I-learn-how-to-use-this-darn-thing sort of document?

I just read an article by Hal Helms at http://duke.adobecomm.com/2006/05/01/more-ajax-with-ajaxcfc/ and it doesn't really talk much about AjaxCFC at all. It just mentions that it exists and that it has some in-built functionality that helps
deserialize WDDX response from the server. In his example code however, he uses some other guys deserialize code! ( http://www.depressedpress.com/Content/Development/_javascript_/Extension s/DP_WDDX/Index.cfm)

So I download this guy's package and include it. It works only after I turn off debugging. Okay, that's fine. I don't know that AjaxCFC will handle that any better, but my main gripe is that the guy didn't really show an example using AjaxCFC at all!

Okay, I've vented my frustration with the article, (sorry) but I'd still like to know of a good tutorial for using AjaxCFC.

And before anyone says, "RTFM" or something similar, I have. I'm just a bit confused and would like a tutorial that walks me through making a simple app. like the Helms article did, only actually using AjaxCFC instead of just mentioning it. :)

Any help would be appreciated!

Chris
