This is actually a very common thing it in my
experience, and I've been dealing with flex about a year and a half
(as I remember-heh). There is an artificial barrier of entry
into the Flex scene as the training and available learning resources are so
thin. The provided documentation with the product is very slim and
disjointed (disjointed as in, think about learning java without any books, just
the javadocs).
Luckily, the flex community is somewhat active and
so you can get some relatively fast responses to most issues, however, if you're
like me, it is frustrating to rely on others for learning when you feel like you
should be able to help yourself. Most of us learn by doing, not asking, so
that is frustrating.
I'm happy to help where I can as well.
