Jake, it is very different than apache. Everything is handled by your NTFS
file security permissions. Do this:

1. Create a new user account (from the Local Users and Groups snap-in).

2. Don't place this user in any groups, not even the "Users" group.

3. Give the user read/write (or whatever) access to the folder or file you
want.

4. Give the user "List Folder Contents" access to all folders up the tree
till you get to the FTP root. (yeah, a pain in the rear!)

Subject: [DFW CFUG] SOT: IIS file protection

All,

I know this is a bit off topic, but not really. I need to password
protect (NT Challenge style) a single file with a specific
username/password (i.e. not my standard server login).

I'm not really that familiar with IIS, so I'm not sure where to even start.

Any pointers?

Thanks!
Jake
