Hi All, I am trying to find an input filter for HTML forms that will
allow me to supply a regex pattern and restrict the input of a form field, not
allowing the user to input invalid characters. I first tried the built-in CF masking but found it somewhat
lacking in particular areas. For example, I would like to be able to
specify a numeric float field that will only accept numbers and “.”,
but any number of them. From what I can tell of the CF Mask I have to
provide 999999.99, indicating a fixed-width field. I would like the flexibility
for a user to enter 1.00 or 1111111111111.00, perhaps a regex something like
the following “^[0-9]+(\.[0-9]{1,2})?$”. Am I missing
something on CFFORM? Assuming that I am correct in my evaluation of CFFORM mask, I
have googled up a few _javascript_ solutions that seem to be slanted
towards phone number or social security formatting (“XXX-XX-XXXX”) (see
http://_javascript_.internet.com/forms/dfilter.html
and http://www.xaprb.com/blog/2006/11/02/how-to-create-input-masks-in-html/)
but haven’t seen anything based on an open regex pattern (xaprb does a
fixed-format). Anyone have a suggestion or do I have to build something from
scratch? Thanks! |
